Keeping warm and chasing a deadline
It seems that a couple of times a year I get the urge to knit... It was that time again and lo' and behold I managed to finish no less then two scarfs that had been WIPs for a long time! Wahoo!!
#1 "The Latifa Scarf", a freebie found HERE..jpg)
.jpg)
#2 "The One Row Handspun Scarf" by the Yarn Harlot (aka Stephanie Pearl-McPhee) another freebie found HERE, although there was no hand spinning involved, at least not by me!

And seeing as my self imposed deadline is getting nearer and nearer I've been dutifully stitching away at the CHS Alphabet, enjoying it tremendously!!
22 down, 4 to go! But here's the strange thing: I am SO ready to finish this project because I want to see it in all it's finished glory... and I SO REALLY want to finish it because I'm sick of it and can't wait to start something new... and I SO do NOT want to finish it because I have thoroughly enjoyed the journey from A to Z and I don't want it to end!!! Confused? Does anyone else recognize this slightly screwed up feeling?

Your scarfs look lovely and warm. It is getting cold here too and the hats, gloves, and scarfs are starting to come out. Your sampler looks wonderful, I can't believe how close you are to finishing it. As to your mixed feelings on finishing it, yes I can relate. There are some projects that just call to you and connect in such a way that as much as you want to see it finished the journey has been such fun you don't want to see it end.

I'm not a knitter (long story there), but I totally love Scarf #1. Very nice!! As for your quandary over finishing the CHS alphabet, how about this: Finish it so you can admire it, then immediately start the same project all over again, because that way you get to start something new AND continue to enjoy it. Does that work?? (P.S. I'll take the second finish, if you don't need two. LOL!)
Beautiful scarfs!! the first one is my favorite :)
Oh, those are lovely scarves Harmien!! I can imagine the cooler temps would make me want to knit if I knew how :-) I tried when I was younger, but my tension was terrible. Nice to see you are into self-imposed deadlines too!! Thanks so much again for the Acorns Box - I just adore it!
CHA Alpha is WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL!!
What a greatjob Harmien! It's gorgeous!!!
Okay, first of all i"m kind of confused because you posted not one, but TWO pictures of your lovely self. And secondly: I love the scarves. And thirdly, I know what you mean when you say you do and don't want to finish something. That's why I never want to finish ANYthing.
Oh yes, I do recognize those mixed-up feelings of wanting to be done and not wanting to ever be done. LOL! Glad I'm not the only one!
Who's your scarf model?
The scarves are just gorgeous! Congrats on finishing them. CHS alphabets looks great.
Oh yes, I recognize that feeling very well!
Your alphabet is gorgeous! Do you have a special place picked out where you will hang it?
And, your scarves are lovely. I am not a knitter, and I don't see how anyone can make such beautiful things!
Your scarves looks lovely Harmien. Both my DDs decided they wanted to knit a scarf each and they're still not finished! They were supposed to be done for last Winter.
Uour alphabet is looking fantastic.
Your scarves are so lovely, Harmien! How do you pick which one to wear without making the other feel left out?
And your alphabet is looking superb! Don't worry about finishing, there are so many other great HUGE projects out there waiting for you to start :-D
Nice, warm scarves, Harmien! With snow in the nearby mountains, I need to be pulling out my gloves and scarves. :D
Your alphabet project is fantabulous!!
I love the scarfs...i'd love to learn to knit.
Your alphabet is stunning. I love this piece. So close to the end. Im yet to finish a really big project LOL
I totally understand you rfeelings, the end of a beloved project is a bitter sweet thing, isn't it? Your stitching and knitting is lovely!
I recently bought the pattern for the Alphabet Sampler. I saw someone else's finish and had to have it! Your sampler looks really great!

What a beautiful joy you have done on the alphabet sampler. Dating it in the corner kinda gives you a deadline does it!! I have a piece I am working on and I left the date page to the last. Maybe I should date it now!! Congrats on your two lovely scarves. They are beautiful
Oooh, what pretty scarves! I love the first especially. And your alpha is SO neat; I can understand why you have mixed feelings about finishing... looks like a fun stitch :)
How sweet to see a pic of you! Lovely scarves!!! I used to knit a lot from 15 to 27 years old. Then I stopped and started again for two or three years. Then I discovered cross stitch -which suited my poor back better... But I still LOVE knitted garments and appreciate a lot the commitment in there. Shortly: congratulations, they're very beautiful.
Your alphabet is a heirloom!!! I share the same feelings of wanting to finish and not wanting to finish at the same time... (wink!).
Take care!

Both scarves are beautiful! I love the colors you chose. I know just what you mean about wanting to be finished and not wanting to be finished!
