Stitch & Bitch

Question: why have knitters claimed that name for their gatherings even though they KNIT and we do the actual STITCHING?

I invited a few ladies over for my very first Cross Stitch & Bitch Day last week and it was fa-bu-lous!! Annemarie, Rachael and Barbara were THE best company and the day went by way too fast!! We did precious little stitching, but talked about it plenty...LOL!!! Let's do it again soon, ladies!!!! And look at the lovely goodies they gave me!!

Stunning fabbies, gorgeous floss and so much more...!!! Rachael baked a to-die-for cake which obviously wasn't going to last long enough to be photographed!! And Barbara stitched a Primitivebetty's floss fob for me called 1857, isn't it pretty?

On the back are elements from a Primitivebetty's chart called 1836 Spring Thyme Sampler. She filled it with lavender and it smells just heavenly!!

I even picked up lavender scented fabric softener yesterday because of that lovely smell...LOL!!

*****

I can show you a little of my own stitching as well!! Vonna's birthday is not until Saturday, but because my gifts for her arrived a few days early I can share them with you now!

Two Pinkeeps
The Goode Huswife

Stitched on a piece of unknown 40ct Silkweaver that I kept dunking in coffee and tea, because I couldn't get the colour right!! With DMC: 3750, 3829.

Happy birthday Vonna!!!

A final progress report on the bobbin winding...

I think I'm done!! Just look at that kaleidoscope of colour.... aaaaahhhhh...

And while we're on the subject of stash... Remember the gift certificate my father-in-law gave me for my birthday? This...

... is what I chose! I really wanted something useful, beautiful, a little quirky and lasting!! I will show them to him tonight... I think he'll approve... ;o)

I LOVE seeing your floss drawers - such a gorgeous array of colours! The gifties you made for Vonna are gorgeous, Harmien! I have had that pattern for a while and keep looking at it. I really think I need to do this one now too.

There really is no better way to spend an afternoon than with stitching friends! But pictures...where are the pictures?

LOL! I *hate* that knitting is called stitching! Wonderful gift for Vonna and I *love* the scissors you chose. I spoiled myself with the same pair a little while back :)

It sounds like you all had a fun time. Your so brave to try and dye your one fabric...I'm to frightened that it might run in the end. Wow! Look at all that floss. You got that done in no time at all. I have the small set of scissors that you got. Very pretty.

Get OUT!

JOEPIE!

Oh, I absolutely ADORE the "Two Pinkeeps" pattern!! So great, and so perfect for Vonna. Hope I can stitch it too, one of these days.

Wow! Did you really get all of your floss wrapped already? You must have been winding in your sleep. But it's positively inspirational to see all those colors residing together. Suddenly, I feel the need to go stitch something . . .

Next time, I better be invited! LOL! Very jealous over here! ;)

LOVE your goodies and the present for Vonna is beautiful!

To me, there are few things as pretty as floss wound on bobbins. Well, maybe loads and loads of skeins. Enough to fill a swimming pool. I swear I would go floss bathing!

The two pinkeeps are gorgeous. I love the colors! That stash of fabrics is great too. I love oriental-themed fabrics. Are the Old Glory scissors to go along with your Union Jack shoes?

Ummm, Harmien, could you come to my house and wind some bobbins???

How many hours did you spend winding all that floss around the bobbins? They look great - so colorful. Annemarie is sooooo right - gave schaar.
